The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District conducted a wide-area larval mosquito control operation (WALMCO) in portions of Lincolnwood and Skokie on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, between the hours of 9:00 PM and 12:00 AM.

This larval control operation utilized Altosid® SR-20, a mosquito growth regulator, applied via our ULV (ultra-low volume) equipment. It was intended to reach breeding sources that are difficult to treat due to their inaccessibility via traditional methods. This larval control operation targeted Culex mosquitoes, which can transmit West Nile virus, to prevent them from reaching the adult stage.
